There is a lot of buzz around using blended learning to engage students and enhance learning. However, getting started with blended learning is not always a straightforward or self explanatory process. In this blended learning workshop, the first in the series, we will take the first steps in designing a blended course and explore:

  • What blended learning is, and its general benefits
  • What blended learning can look like in different courses
  • How blended learning strategies could be implemented in your course!
  • Tools to get started with your blended learning course design

Who should participate?
Are you interested in using online tools to engage students in your course beyond the lectures? Are there activities you would like to do during class, but lack the time to use them? Would you like to provide students with some control over the time, place, and/or pace to engage with your course content? Are you thinking of blending your course, lab, or tutorial? Do you have questions about implementing blended learning strategies? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then this workshop series is for you!

  • What affordances and limitations exist for different interactions in both the face-to-face modality and online?

Are there activities you would like to do during class, but lack the time to use them? Would you like to provide students with some control over the time, place, and/or pace to engage with your course content? Are you thinking of blending your course, lab, or tutorial? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then this workshop series is for you!
